Which devices does the app run on?

Prayer Tracker runs on iPhone with iOS 18 or later. There is no version for other devices.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts and nothing to sign in to.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Prayer times, the qibla and the qada counter are computed on the phone. The only thing the app fetches is a small configuration file with the wording of some screens, and it works without it.

How are prayer times calculated?

On your iPhone, from your coordinates and the calculation method you choose, using the open-source adhan-swift library. Nothing is looked up on a server. Details are on the methodology page.

Which calculation method is chosen for me?

By country: United States, Canada and Mexico → ISNA; the Gulf states → Umm al-Qura; Egypt, the Maghreb and the Levant → Egyptian General Authority; Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan → University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi. Elsewhere, the Americas get ISNA and the rest of the world Muslim World League. You can change the method at any time in Settings → Prayer times.

The times are a few minutes off from my mosque's timetable.

Mosques use different conventions for the Fajr and Isha angles, so first check the calculation method and the Asr rule in Settings → Prayer times. Then use Settings → Adjust prayer times to shift each prayer by up to ±30 minutes. Far north or south, choose a high-latitude rule. When in doubt, follow your local mosque.

The Hijri date is one day off.

Months are announced by sighting, so the tabular date can differ by a day. Settings → Hijri adjustment shifts the date by up to ±2 days.

Why does the compass ask me to calibrate?

The phone's compass needs a fresh reading. Move the phone in a figure of eight, away from magnets, metal desks, magnetic cases and car mounts.

The compass says "Pointing at magnetic north".

That card appears when location access is denied. Without a location the app cannot correct the compass for magnetic declination. Allow location in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Prayer Tracker → While Using the App.

Why does the app want my location, and what leaves my phone?

Prayer times and the qibla are computed on the device from your coordinates. To show a city name, the app sends your coordinates to Apple's geocoding service; if you search for a city instead, the text you type goes to Apple Maps. Nothing is sent to us. See the privacy policy.

What is qada, and how does the counter work?

Qada is a prayer made up after its time has passed. Each prayer has a window: Fajr until sunrise, Dhuhr until Asr, Asr until Maghrib, Maghrib until Isha, Isha until the next Fajr. When a window closes and the prayer was not marked, the app adds one to that prayer's count. Counting starts when you finish setup — nothing earlier is counted.

I prayed but forgot to mark it.

Mark it later and the count goes back down. On the Qada tab, tap a prayer to log one made-up prayer, or touch and hold to set the number you owe directly.

What is "Fasts owed"?

A counter for fasts you still have to make up, next to the prayers. Once a year the app asks whether you are fasting this Ramadan; you can change the answer later. When you plan a make-up fast, the app sends suhoor and iftar reminders for that day.

No reminder came at the prayer time.

By default each prayer has the alarm on and the notification off. On iOS 26 or later the alarm needs its own permission — check Settings → Prayer Tracker → Alarms, and the Reminders screen in the app. On iOS 18–25 an alarm-only prayer is delivered as a time-sensitive notification, which needs notifications to be allowed.

Alarm or notification — what is the difference?

An alarm (iOS 26 or later) rings through silent mode and Focus and shows the system alarm screen. A notification is a normal banner with the phone's notification sound. You can enable either or both for each prayer. Both can be snoozed for 10 minutes.

Can it remind me before the window ends?

Yes. For each prayer choose: at the prayer time, a set number of minutes before the window ends, or an exact time. An evening summary an hour after Isha lists the prayers you have not marked. During the free trial the app also sends one reminder the day before the trial ends.

How do I add the widgets, the Lock Screen widget, the Dynamic Island card and the Control Center button?

Home Screen: touch and hold the wallpaper → Edit → Add Widget → Prayer Tracker. Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen → Customize → Lock Screen → tap the widget area → Prayer Tracker. Dynamic Island: in the app, Settings → "Prayer at the top of the screen". Control Center: touch and hold Control Center → Add a Control → Qibla. Settings → Widgets in the app shows each one live with its steps.

How much does it cost? Is there a free version?

7-day free trial, then a subscription. The current price is shown in the app. The free trial is available once per Apple Account. There is no free version: after the trial the app requires a subscription.

How do I cancel?

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Prayer Tracker. Step by step: Cancel your subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us: reportaproblem.apple.com.

I have a new iPhone. How do I get my subscription and data back?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, install the app and use Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases. If iCloud was on, your settings, prayer marks and qada come back from your iCloud account. Family Sharing is not enabled for this subscription. To remove your data instead, see Your data.

Is the app a religious authority?

No. Prayer times and the qibla are astronomical computations from the method you select, not religious rulings. The app does not replace your local mosque, imam or religious authority. The full disclaimer is in the terms of use.
